Environmental protection refers to preserving the quality of air, water and land. It involves joint efforts of legislative bodies, organized groups and individuals. The goal of environmental protection supporting activities is not just to preserve clean and healthy surroundings, but also to implement the awareness of the problem to each individual.
Modern man is constantly seeking a place unspoiled by urbanisation, pollution and infrastructure. Most of the world is to some extent damaged by the modern ways of living; finding one place where you can breed with full lounges, drink tap water and swim in the truly clear sea is a real “treasure hunt”.
Understanding the problem before it’s too late, is of the utmost importance.
Croatian coast and sea are among the cleanest and best preserved in the world. It is something quite rare, hence, especially valuable.
Croatian government is trying hard to implement programs of sustainable development. This refers to investing and developing the country’s economy and industry, but without damaging the environment. Such programs are taken up in many countries aware of the significance of the problem.
These actions are taken at the states’ level, but all people share the responsibility to protect our heritage and cultivate ecological values.
Together with air and land, the sea is of vital significance to our planet’s life.
The coastal region holds a special position in the plans of preservation of nature. Croatia has signed several international conventions and acts on environment protection and is one of the first countries on the Mediterranean to start with pragmatically monitoring the clarity of the sea water and cleanliness of beaches. More than 120 Croatian beaches and marinas are awarded with the Blue Flag, for the success in developing a top service in marine and environment friendly manners.
